Categories of school science equipment¶
*Catalogue = Catalogue item from international suppliers of science equipment.
This item is usually obtained from local agents or is directly imported.
* Class = Class of 40 students working in 5 groups.
Costs
* Estimated costs of unit or individual item should be included to allow for preliminary calculation of costs for one school class and total costs.
Estimated costs should be quoted in United States Dollars, ex-works, export packed.
- Actual costs can be obtained only from quotations from local agents and international suppliers.
- Item = Item description abbreviated from catalogues
- Source = Source of supply of the item in its least expensive form and at a level of technology appropriate to science teaching.
- Local purchase = Item that is commonly available and is normally sold for purposes other than science education, e.g. bicycle pump, jelly crystals.
- Local manufacture = Item that can be made up commercially in local workshops.
- Low Cost = Item that can replace the locally fabricated or imported item at no cost or at the cost of simple materials, For example, Aspirator polythene 1000 cm 3 could be replaced by a 1 litre plastic drink bottle.

For a single bubble balloon, when the package is open immediately use a latex regulator and keep inflating until the bubble is round with no wrinkles or bumps along the seam.
Solid-colour bubbles are 15, stretchy plastic balloons with self-sealing valves.
They have different colours or clear, and float with helium and last longer when air-filled.
They do not oxidize.

When to use a fire blanket
A fire blanket is ideal for cooking fat fires and can be used to wrap around people if their clothes catch on fire.
Place (not throw) fire blankets over cooking fat fires, keeping hands and face protected behind it.
