The experiments and activities on this website are intended for use by science teachers and are provided for educational purposes.

Science experiments can involve chemicals, heat, electricity, glassware and living materials. Before using any lesson from this website:

• Perform experiments only in a properly equipped classroom or laboratory, under the supervision of a qualified teacher or laboratory technician.
• Follow your school's safety procedures and the regulations that apply in your country or state — some substances and procedures described here are restricted in some places, or unsuitable for younger students.
• Read the Laboratory Safety section before undertaking practical work, and use protective equipment wherever indicated.
• If you are not an experienced teacher, do not attempt these experiments on your own.

The lessons reproduce well-established experiments drawn from recognized educational sources. Even so, conditions, equipment and materials vary, and all experiments are undertaken at your own risk.
